Twitter is like taking a stroll on a beautiful sidewalk on a warm summer day and sometimes just falling into an open manhole.

This is AI.

The company is called arcads.ai, they’re based in France, and the founder is Romain Torres, a repeat founder with a previous exit of a course marketing startup called Class Growth.

What does Arcads do?

  • Hire actors

  • To film hours of ad footage for various kinds of ads

  • Then trains model that allows them to animate the actors

  • To voice ads based on a text prompt from a user

  • This costs 100 Euros a month for 10 videos

  • Generation time is a few minutes

  • You can choose from 30 actors right now

Now, after posting, on Twitter, this post went to the moon, and roughly 4.5 million views later, a number of huge debates have sprung up.

Is this AI?

The main point of contention seems to be that these are deepfakes.

In essence, deepfakes are not “real AI“ anymore… I guess since they’re something we’ve gotten used to?

You can still hear that the cadence is a bit robotic, but yeah, by 2025 it might be impossible to tell, laws need to be passed and standards need to be set ASAP
